How do I join the swim team?
Follow the "Join Online" link to the right, filling in the information as requested. The final page will ask you to print it out. Then bring it to practice along with a check or cash for the one month's dues and the registration fee ($125 registration fee for YMCA site, $56 for Waimea site). You will need to complete and sign a USA Swimming membership application at that time. Both registration fees include the cost of the USA Swimming membership. The YMCA site registration fee also comes with a free T-shirt and latex SKA swim cap, which the Waimea site registration does not include.
Note: The registration fee includes an annual membership to the USAS swim program. If you are currently a member, bring in your card, complete a Hawaiian Swimming Transfer Form to move your USAS membership from your old team to SKA and you can deduct $5O from the registration fee.
Where and when are the practices?
Get ready for some good exercise and some great fun! We have swimmers of all levels and we strongly encourage anyone to come join our workouts and instruction. Swim Kauai has five age group programs. Each program is designed to challenge the swimmer to the best of their ability. Click on the Programs link on the right to learn more about each group.
How much does it cost?
Swim Kauai dues are collected monthly or quarterly. Each level demands increases in pool time and coaching to help the swimmer attain their maximum potential, hence the graduated dues.
| Group Swim Dues | |
|---|---|
| Bronze | $40 / month x 6 months = $240 |
| Silver | $50 / month x 6 months = $300 |
| Gold | $60 / month x 6 months = $360 |
| Junior | $65 / month x 6 months = $390 |
| Senior | $75 / month x 6 months = $450 |
| Waimea | $40/month collected monthly |
Initially, if you would like to evaluate our program, we require registration fees (for insurance purposes) and one months dues. You will be allowed to swim five sessions within the first two weeks of signing up. This is a great opportunity to learn about our program and meet our coaching staff.
If you decide to continue, then the balance of the dues will be collected. Dues for sufficient months to catch up to the next dues payment month (March and September) are then due. If the swimmer advances to the next level during a billing cycle the balance of the difference of the levels will be collected for the remaining months.
YMCA: Swim team members must also join the YMCA. Youth memberships are available for SKA athletes. Currently swimmers memberships are $30.00 and family memberships are $75.00 a month. Check with the front desk for current rates.
USA Swimming: Swim Kauai Aquatics is a member of USA Swimming and all members are required to pay a yearly registration fee of $75.00 This fee covers our administrative costs and pays for membership to USA Swimming.
Finally to offset our budget costs we hold one mandatory annual fundraiser in the fall. The SKA Sunset Swimathon is a USA Swimming sponsored program. It is a fun event where swimmers solicit pledges from family and friends and swim laps in a structured format. They can earn prizes too for top pledges! Minimum $200.00 per swimmer.
Can I volunteer?
Volunteer: Swim Kauai is a non-profit organization that depends on volunteer support. Please contact a board member or coach for volunteer opportunities. SKA relies heavily on parent support and thanks everyone who makes our kids swimming experience special.
