Head Coach; Junior, Senior, Masters
Coach Coach Billy Brown arrived on Kauai in April 2008 to be the Head Coach for Swim Kauai Aquatics and the Associate Aquatics Director at the YMCA of Kauai. Previously, Billy coached age group swimming with the Redlands Swim Team as their assistant Senior Coach. He also coached for the University of Redlands as their assistant coach for both of the swimming and water polo teams. In his two years in Redlands, he received his Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Before Redlands, Coach Billy was based in Oahu, where he served as the head swimming and water polo coach for Pearl Harbor Aquatics, as well as Radford High School. Outside of the pool deck, Billy taught at Holy Family Catholic Academy as an elementary school teacher.
Athletically, Coach Billy joins the Swim Kauai Aquatics staff as a former student-athlete at the NCAA Division I level. He attended the University of Massachusetts-Amherst as a swimmer, competing in both the breaststroke and individual medley. He qualified for the Olympic trials in both breaststroke events back in 2000. Currently, Coach Billy enjoys swimming the channels between the Islands. He has accomplished this feat three times by going between Maui and Molokai and twice between Maui and Lanai. His enthusiasm has helped develop him into the person he is today and easily translates into a desire to coach.
